Sarah Ki Rice

The owner and trainer of Summerwood Farm

Sarah grew up riding on her parents farm and received her first pony when she was three years old. She convinced her mother (who was also her trainer) to allow her to enter a jumping class at age four, where she fell off but was determined to get back on and finish the course. Her love for horses and the sport continues today and prompted her to buy a farm in Shelburne Vermont and carry on her family’s tradition by reopening Summerwood Farm.

Sarah was also awarded the sportsmanship award from the New England Equitation Committee and received a scholarship to ride at the University of South Carolina, where she served as Captain of the Team for two years and was a Region High Point Award Winner. She also was selected to compete in a young riders competition in Italy (Dressage Tests and Jumping Phases were required), where she placed third individually for the US Team out of more than 115 International riders.
